I’m in the process of doing electrical in my garage, not sure if i’m doing electric heater or gas heater yet but both will require a thermostat.
I have yet to do a Zwave/Mica install in my house, (have 0 experience with it, will do it once I finish indoor renovations) so pardon my in experience.
I’m looking for a simple thermostat to control the garage heater, basically just the ability to read the temperature and change the set point via Mica/phone app. It would be separate from what ever fancy HVAC control I end up using for in the house.
Being able to handle colder temperatures would be good considering I wont keep the garage warm 24/7, only when I need it.
Good afternoon
I currently have two electric heaters on my garage and using tkb adapters for switching them on and off. To read the temp in the garage i installed two fibaro door sensors to both my garage doors with one having a temp sensor wired in to read the temp.
I used PLEG to create when to have heaters on etc also if garage door sensor is tripped for longer than 5minutes it will switch off the heaters.
Shouldn’t be any different from what you run in the house. None really have super fancy features no matter if its for house or garage. They turn one heat or cool , display temp and allow you to adjust that. Really the fancy stuff comes from VERA which can tell it when to turn on, and off and change temp (depending on if you home away or what ever).
Around 100.00 bought me a new in box TRANE z-wave.
