The UI5 -> UI7 Upgrage Poll - Share your experience

Hi All

With the release of 7.10, and my own interest in making the giant leap from Ui5 to experience Ui7, I wanted to do a poll to see how the upgrade process went for others.

This is not going to be a very scientific approach, and will obviously be based on your own experience in using Vera, and potential the version you choose to upgrade too - but I think it’s a good time to take stock of people’s first upgrade to gauge the opinions so far…

Put is quite bluntly do not with 7.10. There are significant changes introduce wrt z-wave which is still causing several issues. See http://support.getvera.com/customer/portal/articles/2078473

The actual work on UI7 has evolved significantly and is very stable. But, if UI5 is doing the job, unless your after UI7 new capabilities, wait and see if 7.11 addresses the issues now being reported.

Only problem I noticed was most scenes had to be re written. The all looked good, but would not execute. After re doing them they worked fine.

Thanks @ Davidlee, not ideal, but it sounds like it was not to much of a burden to get them working.

Hi @Brientim - Have you moved to ui7 yet ? I like what I see in the change logs but the firmware change is a concern. But hopefully a positive one.

Yes, for one on the Unit which only has z-wave devices. There is an issue with this version that is affecting a number of z-wave brands that are being reported currently. I am experiencing no significant issue other then devices being reported as dropping off the network and a number of phantom child devices. They have done a look of work and I am not sure this is in MCV responsibility as the generic z-wave firmware updates have been applied.

Hi, my name is Cuda and I’ve been a hater for 7 days now. It all started when I upgraded from UI5 to UI7(10).

a. LUA code which never reported an error now keeps indicating an issue with nils. My code always checks for nils… So what up with that ?
b. LUA code within one independent scene somehow has an adverse on another independent scene (again NIL) and therefore stops all scenes. Saweet !
c. Took a couple of days but my Schlage (which used to work flawlessly) now says, “Please wait! Getting secure classes”. Lock always reports unlocked now.
d. Couple of issues whereby my Fibaro motion sensors trips and never untrips. This is a hit or miss kinda thing…
e. Upgrade didn’t really upgrade the here and now, it simply took me back in time to a backup 4 months ago. Did I say 4 months ago… Yeah
f. Took 2 or 3x to get the upgrade on the unit, she played o’possum on me - I shook it and it revived itself. Damn o’possums.

Just put a freakin’ bullet in me now MiOS

Could take it no more, downgraded from 1.7.649 to 1.7.619 and all seems calm in the world.

  • My Schlage lock (once I R&R’d the batteries) now communicates once again with V3. Although it pretty much killed the batteries (sending bill to MiOS) for the time it couldn’t communicate.
  • NIL issue has miraculously disappeared. Imagine that ! So stop re-writing code people.
  • Still can’t get the MiOS approved Philips hue plugin to work… Ugh
  • Fibaro motion sensors seem to be stable but only time will tell as it was hit or miss.
  • downgrade kept things intact.
