All,
I had a humorous episode occur with my Vera last night and thought it might give everyone a chuckle and lighten your day.
My wife is on the mainland (California) and a week ago I walked her though setting up ImperiHome for Z-Wave control on her Note II.
Fast forward to last night. She is flying home today (09/30/15). Being a bachelor for 2 months meant I had a lot to do around the house. While I am cleaning up I decided to make some changes to my Z-wave network. Shortly after making the changes lights started randomly turning on and off in the house and I assumed it was the changes I made. A sure way to give your wife “The Home Automation blues” is to have lights randomly turning on and off at all times of the day and night. So of course I immediately set about trying to trace down the problem. I swapped out bulbs, excluded and re-included devices etc but it still kept happening. It was about to drive me nuts and I finally concluded my Vera was possessed :o and unplugged it. The problem immediately stopped.
The next time I grabbed my phone I noticed two things 1) I had accidentally put the ringer on mute and 2) I had 7 missed calls from my wife. When I didn’t answer she checked the cameras and seeing that I wasn’t lying at the bottom of the stairs with a broken neck and when I still wasn’t answering my phone she decided to start randomly turning lights on/off, on/off, on/off in a bid to get my attention. :-[ :-[
There was nothing wrong with my Vera, it was working perfectly, even halfway across the Pacific Ocean.
