TED5000 Plugin
Thanks Tim. What you said makes sense and I have got along a little further. So here’s another one; how do you say "if less than -5000 (a minus number), I can’t seem to get that one to take.

I think the variable watch thing is one of the big problems with this stuff. I can’t figure out how to get it to print a variable (evan having gone through the Lua commands), there is a “print” command but I can’t tell for the life of me where it’s printing to, I thought it would be the screen.
@Ap15e or any of the other super coders would be the one to answer that…I am still learning. If you have a Windows PC then look at this link…http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php?topic=6515.msg40269#msg40269...it might be useful!

Ok I am receiving the error: “TED5000 not found. Verify connection, IP address, and MTU number.” when running the plugin. I am on firmware 1245 and tried using plugin 12 and 13. 12 does not locate my Ted, 13 will locate my Ted put in the correct IP address and Mac address and then I get the not found error, even though it found it.

Anyone have any ideas why it would find my unit and still error out ? I have restarted my browser and it still shows the error.

Thanks,
Jim

Ok I found out what the problem is. I had “Password protect all access” checked on Ted. I just unchecked it and the numbers started showing up. Also the ip address should be xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:port number.

Just installed the plugin last night. It works great. Thanks a ton Woodsby for all your hard work! I know you have been extremely busy lately, but whenever you get time to work on the next version, I have the following suggestions:

 1. Add variable to see kWh used since Midnight
 2. Add variable to see kWh used this billing period
 3. Add notification if kWh used since Midnight exceeds X value by Y time
 4. Add notification if kWh used this billing period exceeds X value

Having the ability to have your house tell you if too much energy is being used is priceless. Right now I decided to test notifications for the first time last night and I have Vera sending me an email every time Energy usage is over 4.5 kWh (eg my A/C cycles). Works great!

Just got a note from Google that they are discontinuing Google Powermeter. Womb wommp…

Program ends mid-September.

JUST starting to look into TED and power monitoring with Vera so excuse the likely stupid question. Does this mean that this plug in won’t work? i.e. don’t bother buying now?

Not at all. It just means that google is no longer offering their powermeter web based tool. The TED could upload its data to that (in addition to its built in web server).

Woodsby’s plugin talks directly to TED (not through google), so will be unaffected by the change. I have both TED and Woodsby’s plugin and it works really well. I also have always preferred TED’s built in web server for viewing data over google’s interface anyways.

TED 5000 is a nice device once you get the MTU and sender units talking to each other, which can be a real pain to find a working circuit (but once setup seems to be very solid and reliable).

And accurate, as it measures line voltage, which not all power meters appear to do.

any plans to update he plugin to allow for ID/PW for folks who have their TED password-protected?

Try the [tt]:@<TED’s IP>:<TED’s port>[/tt] format; should work.

Boom. Worked. Thx.

.//A.

Is the TED5000 a Z-Wave device or does it use ethernet? How does it communicate with Vera 2?

The plugin mentioned earlier sounds like a perfect solution to monitor power outages at a remote cabin location.

Thanks.

Ted5000 is a zigbee device. It hooks up to your home network via wired network. The plugin for vera communicates with the module over the network.

Looks like the latest TED 5000 firmware release for the gateway changed something and the TED 5000 plugin no longer works for me. Did the URL for the raw data feed change? Might be a simple fix.

its-electric by Robert R. Tupelo-Schneck also stopped working at the same time with this error.

java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 401 for URL: http://XXX.XX.XX.XX:XXXX/history/rawsecondhistory.raw?INDEX=1&MTU=0&COUNT=12

Looking for a password?

Kevin

What Gateway firmware version are you running? I’m on 1.0.482 (Footprints 1.0.262) and that seems to work.

That is what I have installed. Tried deleting and reinstalling devices and still have an error reading from TED. The devices appear to be configured correctly and not changed from before. Can’t figure it out. Work OK with the TED Footprints software.

I am having the same problem. This has worked for more than a year and now it doesn’t. TED5000 is accessible through the network with footprints without any problem. What has changed?

Did you verify Vera still has the correct IP (and username and password if applicable)?

Where does the username and password for the TED5000 go in Vera? I’ve never needed it before the new TED5000 firmware was installed.

You’d only specify it in Vera if you set up TED to ask for it.
