A newbie to the VERA world here. I am awaiting receipt of my VERA-3 and have ordered a camera and door sensor. My concern, and it’s strictly cosmetic is that I only see light switches/outlets available in white. I live in a log home and white switches etc do not look good. Has anyone tried to paint or color the switches someway?
I may be missing something, but I don’t see any vendors selling anything other than white. I now use black colored switches/outlets.
Thanks for the help guys…I will check it out. My controller is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, and my first device is coming in on Saturday. I’m assuming most people build their z-wave network piece-by-piece, since they’re kind of expensive. I used to delve into X-10, and I’m really excited to get my network built up.
I found a source for the Black switch. Leviton doesn’t sell switches that are black, you have to purchase a color-change kit along with the switch. Since the switch I’m replacing is in a 3-switch gang, I also ordered a mixed gangplate (3 switches) that will provide coverage for one new switch (rocker style), and 2 old style switches. Here’s what I ordered:
Product: VPKIT-MSE - VPKIT-MSE - Matching Switch Color Change Kit - Black
Price: $2.11
Product: VRS15-1LZ - VRS15-1LZ - 15A Scene Capable Switch - White Ivory Light Almond
Price: $84.04
I found the switch for a few dollars less at another site, but decided to order everything from this one vendor so I don’t have to pay additional shipping.

this is awesome. I want to put something like this in a few wall sconces that each have their own built in switch in the light. no easy way get z-wave to control those devices. The screw in modules are HUGE.
Anyone have any idea if they’re working on something like this for the US?
StyleKyle, I am in the US…good old Southern Indiana ;D I’m just curious what made you think otherwise?

Check Amazon.com as well for switchplates/trim. There are several colors on there. The Leviton switches should fit all Leviton AND Monster Z-wave switches.
Another option would be to buy any standard switch you like (or just use the switches you already have) and then use the aeotec or fibaro devices to make them zwave compatible…
