I’m a brand new Z-wave/Vera user. I just installed a VeraLite with UI7 7.1.388, and about 40 devices - Linear dimmers, switches and 3-way switches and two 4-in-1 sensors. I like it a lot so far. The only problem is that scenes are not being triggered by manual switch events (e.g. when turning a switch on or off at the actual switch). The scene only activates when I enable/disable the switch from the UI. Also, the UI doesn’t update switch state when the switch is pressed manually.
Do the scenes completely fail to execute, or do the scenes run after one or two minutes?
I think that you are facing an issue where your switches lack a feature called Instant Status. The lack of Instant Status causes manual switch presses to not be reported to Vera. However, Vera does discover the change when she next polls the device.
Thanks. My Linear WD500Z, WT00Z and WS15Z switches do not support Instant Status.
So, what would is the most aggressive recommended polling schedule? At a default 30 second polling interval it presumably takes 20 minutes to keep device status up to date on my setup.
Notice that the polling interval says “no more than every” 30 seconds. So changing this will not benefit you. There is a way to increase the polling interval globally, but I would strongly recommend against this.
The best way to accomplish what you want is to use a switch with Instant Status.
