Start Up Advice Please

I’m completely new to home automation and would like some basic advice starting up. I live in the UK.

  • If I buy a VeraLite system controller how do I access it to configure? Is that via a PC or Android phone or both?

  • Will any z-Wave app for a phone work with the system controller or is there an official one?

  • in terms of lighting which are the best behind the switch type of modules;

  • are there complete light switches that incorporate z-wave, if so where is the best supplier for UK wiring.

  • in terms of mains power outlets, my questions are the same as for lighting.

To configure the Vera, you access Vera’s interface via a web browser. Configuration is done via a web interface.

You need to use an app that is made specifically for Vera.

Thanks Garrett - i think ill take the plunge and got for VeraLite. Just need to think about a few controller devices now.

If you are going to grow your system you might want to get a Vera 3 over a Vera Lite … it has twice as much memory … That’s what usually limits the growth of the Vera Lite.
