As I have posted many times regarding issues I have had with Vera I thought it only fair I post successes as well. Vera has been running consistently for a week now without any issues. All scenes have worked as they are supposed to and all controllers are working properly as well, including my HSM100 sensor. I am running .900 LUUP version and it seems to be stable for me. I have not had a recurrence of the potential memory leak issue that lead to access issues, so I am supposing it was something else and not a memory leak as it would have recurred by now if it was a memory leak.
That’s great news. I too had a misbehaving Vera. It would lock up two or three times a day, I had phantom devices, etc. But having received the new dongle and flashed my unit back to factory settings and installed .900 my system is running perfectly. All my controllers including the Schlage locks, cameras and water leak sensors are working perfectly.
I wish I had your luck. I have the new dongles in and have tried all the latest firmwares even .918 and none of them past .616 work in wifi client mode. I don’t know why as in the advanced/ net & wifi/ trouble shoot network it shows that everything works fine including the ssh to findvera.com but I can’t get remote access with it. So after another boat load of hours I’m back to .616 that seems to work ok. I had it auto rebooting and I was going to take that off and see if it’s reliable with the new dongle.
I guess when they messed with the firmware to add all the new features they messed up one that used to work. I’m hopful that they will implement it into the main network screen so that you don’t have to set it up in the advanced configuration/ openwrt
I agree that vera is working much better with .899 and the new dongle. Efforts at MCV need to be applauded.
Unfortunately I woke up this morning and all 3 of my outside lights were on. Scene that controls them is simple - on 30 minutes after sunset, off 7 hours later. Also - polls to my rcs tz43 thermostat fail.
I have stripped my network of everything complicated. Only a few light switches and 1 thermostat left. Was hopeful that a simple system would not fail.
I continue to be hopeful that things will continue to improve but I cannot promote vera as anything close to reliable home automation at this point.
Would you buy one now or wait?
Unfortunately, nothing in the area of HA can be 100% reliable, unless you hardwire everything…
Mine seems to be reliable in wifi client mode, even with findvera. It just became unstable all of a sudden after 918.
I can ping the device, and the scenes still seem to be running. Unfortunately I cannot open the GUI through the web and have to reboot the device daily (which is a pain as I’m 4000 miles away).
Anyone else?
We’re working on native wi-fi client mode for the next release.
