I’m trying to login to my Vera using ssh and get prompted for a username/password. Is there a default username/password? I haven’t set one up myself and can’t seem to get past this.
Thanks
Jay

Same problem over here.
Got it, just check your backup file cmh.conf
Can someone be so kind as to explain how to SSH into UI5? Now, how about from outside the home network. Can it be done over the public internet?
Nick
UI5 is no different than UI4. The same instructions will be valid for both.
For previous discussions about accessing your Vera from outside your LAN, search the forum for “VPN” and “port forwarding”. This topic requires a lot of technical understanding. If you can tell us what your current level of networking knowledge is, I’m sure that we can better tailor a personal response.

Thanks for the offer to help. ;D Duh. I understand. I was making this more complicated than it really is. So, I will set up a DDNS provider, port fwd 22 to Vera’s IP. Can I discern my current public IP somehow from MCV? They obviously know it via cp.mios.com.
I still don’t see where to set/change the SCP parameters like password. The Advanced Settings link brings me to a dead link, at least when logging in remotely.
I can’t think of a way to get your public IP address from cp.mios.com. This is a good thing IMO. Just use a dynamic DNS provider, or go static if it’s an option.
The easiest way to change the root password is to run “passwd” from the command prompt. This affects only the root password, not the WiFi access point password (though they started off the same as each other).
Personally I’d disable password authentication over SSH and start using an RSA private key. That would make forwarding port 22 a whole lot less risky.
