Sprinkler as security feature

Does anyone who has Etherrain know if I could write code to get the water to turn on in response to a z-wave connected motion sensor? Also, does Etherrain work on wifi, or does it have to be wired in w/cat?

Yes you can - as any other scene

There’s no wifi, but my guess this below should be able to fix it

Adding wifi would increase price by about $40, and I think the creator decided it would be way too much

Could also bridge it with one of these (cheaper, but bigger):

I was thinking of doing this exact same thing. What are you using for a motion sensor outdoors?

Interesting idea … I was not previously aware of the EtherRain device.

Someone would need to create a plugin or at least extract/document the API details so that it could be controlled by Lua code fragments attached to a scene.

There already is and has been an EtherRain Plugin forever

oops … had the wrong focus when I did a forum search!

The other option i’m thinking is going with a fortrezz valve to hose with sprinkler head and have motion open the valve, or removing Vera from the equation altogether and getting a scarecrow sprinkler on Amazon.com (check out the user submitted photos for a good laugh) which may not be as pretty but will save $500 and a day of installing…
