I’m new to z-wave but not to setting things like this up. I have been looking for days on topics on here but can’t seem to find the answer I seek.
So I reach out to you great Wizards of Vera! :o
Ranch style home.
Veralite in middle of home
5 on/off light switches
1 receptacle
4 door sensors on battery
1- 4 in 1 sensor on battery
1 door lock on battery
When I ran 2 light switches it ran perfect which was my first testing for a few days.
Performance now is hit and miss. some times instant. some times fails. some times long delay. Seemed to go down hill as I added more units. I even deleted all apps and all but one scene.
Ran a heal multiple times and the end result is the same. The other day I was testing a receptacle outside the house in a shed and the reaction time was with in 1-2 seconds which was fine by me. Some cases I can turn a light on and off 6 times in a row with almost no delay…wait 30-60 minutes later and the same light fails…using phone app, some times before the voice can even say turning light on…the light is already on…other times, fails/timeout or eventually changes in 30-60 seconds.
Question: Is there some key setting I’m missing for each device or advanced setting that should be set? Right now, its operation is worthless.
Second issue:
The preset modes.
Door sensors will arm when using anything but “home” but will not disarm when using “home”. Tried to change the default operation with the same result. If manually disarm and pick vacation, they go back to armed, back to home, nothing happens.
Your issue with delays sounds like a Z-Wave communication problem. Either signal quality is poor, or Vera has selected an unreliable route for the device. The standard answer is to add intermediate nodes(not battery operated) to improve the signal quality.
Your testing needs to be done via the Vera GUI. Phone apps can introduce delays due to other reasons. I’m not saying that your delays are from the phone, but reliable testing can only be accomplished using the Vera GUI.
Not sure but now for the past 24 hours or so, the commands have been working almost perfectly with the exception of the presets still not working.
I have been trying commands from IE, Chrome, an ipad and iphone app, and windows 8 app and all responses are almost real time. I have changed nothing since sending the email. Not sure why for days performance was so bad and now its fine. I live alone so nothing goes on in the house with out me knowing
Still stuck with the presets…any one know why sensors won’t disarm when I click the “home” preset?
I know it keeps the posts safe, but the security to post on here is ruff!

Vera automatically does a “heal” most nights around 2am, unless you change the setting. What is likely happening is that it has found routes that are now working better.
But Z-Waver is right… more (not battery powered) nodes always help.
