Ok Somfy ZRTSI works great with VERA 3 but have a few questions.
First as noted it is recognised as a dimmer module but a quick change of the XML file changes this in the config
D_WindowCovering1.xml
The only other item is the UP and DOWN are reversed.
Probably easy to fix by just editing the XML file and change the tags but was wondering if anyone has done this yet?
Is their a plug in for this yet? or any plans on having be recoginized natively properly?
Also I purchased from automatedshade.com (10% off first time buyer) which listed help for VERA 3 and they can offer no help FYI They just have not removed from their website yet.
Great product but makes TAHOMA a big waste of money. 2k plus professional installation (Min 3k to nomral homeowner) or $300 plus vera 3–no brainer
You should be able to make the change in the xml file to change the motor direction/polarity. I still need to do this to a couple of Z-Wave shade motor controllers where my open/close buttons work in the proper direction, but the up/down buttons don’t function. I should probably just remove the redundant buttons, but I don’t want it to affect anything else like SQ Remote, etc.
I don’t know of an official plug-in yet.
Glad you got it working. I think Tahoma and solutions like it may not appeal to those who are willing to do a little DIY.
Yes, this is the expected functionality of the ZRTSI to have just up/stop/down control. There must be some reason ‘close’ works for you, but I am not sure why. Since the ZRTSI is ultimately sending one-way RTS commands to the motors and RTS motors only have one intermediate stop, you’ll only get up/stop/down buttons to work and when stopped, pressing stop again will send the shade to the recorded intermediate stop or ‘MY’ position stored in the motor (set with an RTS remote control or switch). You won’t be able to send the shade to a percentage of open and you won’t get any feedback from the shade through the ZRTSI.
The ‘open’ button sends the shade to 0% open (or ON) and the ‘close’ button sends the shade to 100% (or OFF), so neither those buttons nor the sliding control should apply to the ZRTSI. The ‘up’ and ‘down’ buttons correspond to up/down (ON/OFF) in the ZRSTI and ‘stop’ should send a scene off command. Using the SOMFY URTSI connected to Vera via RS232 would give you similar functionality (up/stop/down) but because it doesn’t use Z-Wave to communicate, serial commands are being sent by the buttons (so both the ‘open and close’ buttons won’t function because they aren’t mapped to serial commands). The reason you are seeing ‘close’ work on the ZRTSI must be due to some overlap or dual functionality of the Z-Wave command it uses or that 0% or 100% always corresponds to up or down.
Thank you. All I needed to know so I don’t keep trying to make the other functions work. Is there a simple way to fix the xml file so the up and down functions are not reversed?
I guess I can implement intermediate positions by timing the full range and stopping at the appropriate time (but only after moving to an endpoint or the “my” position first).
I’m trying to get this working also, so if anyone know how to reverse the “open” and “close” directions, I’d appreciate the assistance.
Also, I’m using SQ Remote, but none of the buttons seems to work - if I use the on/off button, it’l close the shade but not open it. Does anyone have any hints on how to get SQ Remote working with the shades? Thanks!
A work around to get SQ Remote to work may be to create 3 scenes for up/stop/down, then use 3 scene buttons in SQ Remote for each action assigned to each of the 3 scenes in Vera. Not ideal but it should work. So you wouldn’t be using the window covering controls in SQ Remote, but just scene buttons.
You might also have luck creating scene presets for positions in the window by using a percentage of the run time of the shade. It may not work if there is latency in sending the commands, but it could be worth a try.
Very new to this. I bought a house that had Somfy remote open/close blinds in it. Thought I’d like to add HA to them. Purchased a Vera 3 and a Somfy ZRTSI. I can’t get anything to work. I have UI5 installed. Following the Somfy ZRTSI instructions the units zwave light just stay on red after the s-led turns solid yellow. Is there a link to a place with instructions on how to get this working. Thanks for any help anyone has.
@CliffordA have you seen the YouTube video for programming the ZRTSI? It should be the same procedure when working with Vera, just use Vera’s generic inclusion process.
I’m still trying to get my Vera3 and my Somfy zrtsi to communicate. The zrtsi works, as when I press the s-button the blind that is set with the rotary switch jogs. I need to know how to link the zrtsi to Vera3. I can’t seem to add the device (zrtsi) to Vera3. Does anyone have a step-by-step procedure?
Have you tried using Vera’s generic inclusion process? What I mean is not picking the device to include, it using the advanced option of choosing high power vs low power inclusion and the duration?
The option is at the bottom and you may need to exclude the device first to reset it, then try to include after resetting it. Let me kow if you have any questions.
