Some Modules generate "Transmit failed with code: 1"

I have a Vera that I’m, after many months, still getting started with. I have a handful of Home Manageables modules that came as part of a Vera starter kit.

I have found it very touchy and frustrating to get these to associate with the Vera. For a couple of modules I had to exclude and re-include them a couple of times to get them to associate and operate properly. Now I have one that operates fine and one that operates okay (appliance on/off) but in the Vera U/I consistently generates a “Transmit failed with code: 1” message after every operation.

What does this mean? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

I’ve grovelled through the logs and can make no sense of what I see. Here is what looks like error messages in the log:

That error usually occurs when Vera just can’t see the node. You’ll see that on wall switches for which you’ve opened the breaker (installed, paired, but unpowered switches). I’ve been able to “cure” instances of this error that occurred on the devices installed furthest from Vera by installing an intermediate node (plug-in module). I currently have maybe 30 - 35 devices in a pretty robust network & haven’t seen an unexplained/unexpected code 1 in a while.

Interesting. In this case I see the same behaviour when the module is right next to the Vera, and in any event it is normally only 3m away with a clear light of sight. The module controls correctly – turns on/off when it is told to – but I get this error in the U/I.

That’s a new one on me. I’ve only seen it from modules at a questionable distance from Vera.
