[SOLVED] Creating new dimmer devices mess

Hi,

I’m on the trunk code.

I’m new to both Vera and the plugin. Having used Domoticz a while.

I tried to learn the devices from a remote but it’s only creating on/off switches rather than dimmers. After I started changing device type 3 of 8 are showing as dimmers and the rest are not even showing on off any more. Probably something I did wrong. And I can not seem to find the create new device under the RFX-controller any more.

The device I created manually is gone?!? Can’t find it any more.

I really do not know what is going on and everything is just a mess.

When the device is recognised you should edit it in the plugin not the device its created.
You can change the device to a dimmer by selecting it in the plugin and changing its type

By in the plugin. Where exactly do you mean?

go to the device created by the plugin, Mine is called RFXtrx Controller, there you will see “managed devices”
you can then edit the device that was created by the plugin, and the changes you make will be permanent.
if you select the device you want to change to a dimmer, then change “New device type” to dimmable light

Thanks. But if you see my first post with the pic. That’s the controller device. Managed devices has disappeared :o

Maybe deleting the controller and recreating it?

I would do that, delete all traces of it, including looking for any lua files

Your screen capture could let me think you have not well created the main RFXtrx device (not the right device type) because you have not the expected tabs.
Or maybe you just need to run a Ctrl+F5 in your browser…

Thanks guys. It did look right before. So I probably did something or there was some kind of corruption. Deleting the rfx controller and recreating it did the trick. And changing one by one to dimmer device in manage devices worked.

Looks good now.
