Sneak peek at v1.2, and looking ahead

Version 1.2 of HomeWave went to the App store today  Hopefully it will get approval in a week or 2.

This version is mostly about customizing look & feel, and adds the ability to set background colors and images, and change colors. One thing that did not make it into the release is a “theme” selector that sets default colors and options for all controls on a screen or in the entire app. That means you’ll have to set all colors and options on buttons individually, which can be a bit of a chore if you’re changing looks.

The reason for not including themes, is that v1.2 has already grown into a rather major release; suggestions and (hopefully small) bugs are to be expected. Once those are sorted out, and after the various preferences screens have been cleaned up some (they have become a bit messy), work can start on consolidating the look & feel part. In the mean time, work on v1.3 starts now. The aim is to add support for the iPad, and at the least add support for a few devices that are still ostensibly missing: roller / blind controllers, and alarm panels. Hopefully it will be ready before the end of the year!

Here are a few pics to give an idea of the ways you can customize the appearance of v1.2

Question as I have not been able to find the answer on the website.

Does the app fully support PTZ and presets for Foscam IP cams? My main need at this time is the ability to keep an eye on my dogs as I just ended up with a 9 month old pup (owner didn’t want her anymore and she’s to sweet temperament to risk her ending up chained up in a yard)

For this I have installed several Foscam FI8910W that allow me to pan and tilt as well as having set presets. My currently used app (Vera remote), although showing the images, does not have any PTZ or preset ability and I would rather not have to install a separate app just for the cams.

I hope that intveltr doesn’t mind me responding.

HomeWave 1.1 does support PTZ and 6 Preset for Foscam Camera’s.

I use it just about every day to check on my daughter from Afghanistan. Thank you intveltr!

See attached for an example of the interface.

Thank you, that’s just what I needed. Guess I’ll have to spend some money at the iTunes app store.

To clarify: HomeWave allows you to move the cam to 6 presets, but you cannot set them using the app.

As long as I can move the cam to the presets I am happy. As those I have alreday set using direct access to the cameras. I guess next weekend is purchase and config time.

v1.2 was just released to the app store (may take a few hours to appear there) Enjoy

Installed the update and I have already taken advantage of the colors, and icons that we can use now. Thanks and keep up the good work…

I’m controlling my Foscam without issues. It will show preset numbers on the screen. Note that presets need to be setup within the camera via it built in interface.

Nice work @intveltr.

1-decimal temperature value presentation appears to work now!

Hi Intveltr,

this update is really great.

I played a lit bit and I set up my home with HomeWave. I post some screen of my iPhone.

Some personal wishes:

  • the new update has a much better resolution also for an iPad. But for sure an iPad version is really wish. If the resolution is higher and the matrix will become more thin, maybe the it can be done a set up with a 3D diagram on background and the icon on top (see attachment). It is very used in the KNX world. Potentially can be done also with the actual version, but the matrix is not enough this with the iPhone app
  • it easy nice the possibility to incorporate the webcam frame in the single screen (potentially this can become a dynamic background of the first point). Your app manage also very well the streaming and not only the jpeg preview. It will nice to have the possibility to choose if to have a streaming or preview in the main screen (it can become more heavy, but not an issue for fix iPad mounted on wall)
  • add a auto-configuration feature. Homewave can create the same room as vera in the main screen. Then you have two possibilities: by room or by category. By room means that for each room Homewave adds automatically all the devices. By category means that for each category (lights, climate, sensors, etc) it will be created a dedicated screen. For both types the user should only choose the size form and design.
  • have the possibility to read out the archive of image in vera. This will be become the first app that can do it. It will add a great functionality.
  • add theme (I believe already foreseen)
  • add a pre configured icon for meteo frame for the main screen with icon and GUI
  • add a pre configured icon for sonos frame for the main screen with icon and GUI
  • add the possibility to show webcam directly from url instead from Vera, in some case are faster and we higher speed
  • add the possibility to have an icon for status off and an icon for status on
  • add the possibility to have a web frame to add specific case/products

I stop here, otherwise you will kick out me

Thank you for your effort
Regards,
Matteo
