SMS notification shows incorrect room...

I am getting SMS notifications that state:

Device-G Door Sensor, Room-Master Bedroom

But the scene that triggers this notification is located in the “Garage” room. The sensor is also located in the “Garage” room. The rest of the notification is correct and it is happening at the correct time (when my garage door sensor is tripped). I’m using UI3 1.1.228.

Is anyone else getting notifications where the room specified is incorrect?

My Garage door sensor also says the notification comes from my Patio?

Beyond that it gets the room wrong, I find it freaking hilarious that it states “Device” and “Room” at all. Don’t we already know that the “G Door Sensor” is a device, and that “Master Bedroom” is a room? The UI guys at MCV are amateurs at best.

Every time I get a notification like “Event-Entry UserID=“3” UserName=“Pam” Device- Room- User: Pam Date-2010-03-14 15:34:08 #7749” on my little phone display I laugh. It’s not easy to read anyway, but when you add in all the unnecessary programmer gobbledygook, it takes some effort to figure out what just happened. This is what happens when you let a programmer do your programming. lol

It really should say “Pam entered at 15:34:08 on March 4” or in your case “Door Sensor - Master Bedroom”.

I’m also quite astonished that threads like this where people have obvious problems, never get answered and are allowed to sink down the forum without an MCV staffer answering.

AFAIK, http://bugs.micasaverde.com is the official bug tracking tool. Just register and document the bugs - and hope that MCV will provide feedback and/or a fix …

This issue is caused because you’ve restored a previous backup of your settings when your Device “G Door Sensor” was in other room. In order to fix this issue you’ll have to re-sync all your devices with your unit designated ra server. Right now this is done only at firmware upgrade.
We’ll added it as an option in the UI in the next releases.

Thanks for the remark CMRancho, but unfortunately the email/sms notification which is sent to the customer is composed from multiple database fields which are synced with his unit.
The message received is a generic one, valid for every type of notification and made to fit on 160 characters, and all the “unnecessary programmer gobbledygook” is present so if a customers has issues with his notifications and submit a trouble report, our support representative could identify quickly what is the exact issue.
In the future we’ll create notification templates for every type of notification so that the end user notification will look more user-friendly.

My Door sensor has always been in the garage and never added to anywhere else and with UI3 i built everything from scratch so i don’t see how thats possible that it was from another room?

i built everything from scratch with ui3 this time around too, must be a UI3 specific issue?

Another one of those things that “Just Doesn’t Work” in UI3?
