Is there a way to set the SMS notification limit (Account, My Contact Info, Notifications limit) higher than 2? I can change the email ones, but not the SMS.

Background, when on holiday I do not always have Wifi/Roaming. I can recieve SMS messages all the time, so I still can see if a sensor is tripped.

If you are on Android … use Vera Alerts … Fast Notification.

The alternative solution for iPhone is either look at Prowl and the Push Notification app or Automator App which includes push notification both would still require mobile data.

Yes, i have it, but they require a data connection, which i do not have when i am abroad.

The only other option is to look for an SMS gateways account… This then acts as a conversion to forward an email as an SMS. Some links below start you off.

I had the same requirement – ability to receive certain notifications as SMS, in case I’m somewhere where I don’t have data. Ended up using IFTTT. Just have Vera send an email notification, then program IFTTT to send an SMS. IFTTT doesn’t seem to put limits on SMS messages. Only shortcoming is that IFTTT can take up to 15 min to run your rules.

There is also a thread via the google calender, this worked for me. Still not sure what best way is, I think it is a SMS gateway

You can also use the Twilio.com API Interface plugin. It is in the store. It can send your SMS messages or call you and speak whatever text you passed to it.
