Smartphone Web Interface not working on 3G network V 1.0.979

Running Version 1.0.979
Using 3GS Iphone

Iphone says “Selected plugin is not installed” after log-in and choosing graphical interface.
“Please go to your Vera Devices/Luup plugins and install it.”

Works fine when on Wi-Fi in the house but not on the 3G network

Smartphone Web Interface is installed with Vera, the Basic Mobile Web Interface (WAP) is not installed.
I did install WAP and I get the same message.

Would this be a bug in 1.0.979??

I used the smartphone plug-in on 1.0.979 without issue. When trying to access the site from at home over wifi are you going to findvera.com/mobile or access it using the IP of Vera on your local network?

On Wi-Fi I’m using the IP on local network and it works great.
Turn off Wi-Fi and use 3G logging into findvera.com/mobile is when I get the plug in message (after logging into graphical).

BTW: I cleared my cache on the Iphone

I had this same issue, and others in these forums have run into it as well. For me, the solution was a combination of un-installing and re-installing the smartphone plug-in several times and rebooting Vera several times. Other people have said they got it working by switching Vera from DHCP to a static IP address.

I tried the Static IP and also uninstalling/installing the plug in.
It still doesn’t work, this is very frustrating! I have the Vera setup as a switch, bridged with a DD-WRT Linksys router, I port forwarded 49451 on the Linksys router with no luck.

You shouldn’t have to forward any ports. I have all inbound ports blocked on my router, and UPnP is disabled, so I know Vera didn’t open any inbound ports.

Uninstalled the plugin and the WiFi plug stopped working, reinstalled and WiFi started working again. Several reboots, still not working with 3G edge network, same thing “Selected plugin is not installed”.
Maybe the 3GS Iphone or bug with 1.0.979?
Arghhhh!!! I beginning to wonder if I should have gone with a global cache appliance

I could never get the Smartphone plugin to work with 1.0.979. When I installed it, Vera quit working and the only way I could get it working again was to reset to factory default (double click on Vera black button) and re-install from last backup.

But, when I upgraded to 1.0.994 (seen in another post here) the Smartphone plugin installed without a hitch and has been working fine ever since.

Have you tried the findvera.com/mobile URL when connect via Wifi?

The Wi-Fi plug in works, the graphical interface does not.

This link does not work in firmware upgrade
http://download.controlmyhouse.net/firmware/wl500gP_Luup_ui2-1.0.994-1.trx

maybe since they decided to renumber things to get it all to fit below 1.1?

maybe .994 isn’t .994 anymore?

(personally I dont see whay they can’t have 1.0.1001 or anything like that.

I found it, its a little different than the last link

.994 DID NOT fix the problem, to me this program is useless without the mobile interface. People want the gadgets if I’m going to install this system. For now, Think Essentials does a much better job for setting up system and associations to Scene/zone controllers. For now, I’ll leave the computer on and spend the extra 200watts.
BTW: The UI3 is horrible for graphics, you have to move the mouse over the item to get the name, not very easy with 40 devices. I prefer the .979 over UI3 interface and will have to wait and see how things pan out.

Just out of curiosity, how are you guys finding these firmware links? It would be nice if they were listed somewhere.

Fixed the mobile problem, reset username and password.
Unfortunately the firmware links require allot of reading, its been said here before that it would be nice if Vera had a log of all the changes

979 was the latest officially released firmware for some time, as announced in the corresponding area of the forum. 944 was never officially released! It was a friendly drop for some specific development feature. You should not try unofficial firmwares, if you are not prepared to run the recovery procedure for your Vera if anything goes bad.

To my point, 985 is actually the latest release (for the new Veras at least).

Given the various issues associated with different versions, I still think a central location with latest versions and what end-user/product version they are best suited to would be helpful.

In my opinion the “Official announcements” forum serves its purpose, including a short changelog:
