Smarthome Australia - what happening?

In Feb 2104 Smarthome Australia had a sale and now, the phone number is disconnected, the store website is not available and their Facebook page has dropped all it’s previous postings?

Has something down-under gone-under?

Where the words “going out of business” mentioned in that’s sale? >:(

It’s because you stopped buying stuff, Tim. It was you that was keeping them afloat.

If there not out of business, the actions are at least very suspicious. The warning to anyone that has brought from them recently, chase up (nearly impossible) or to contact your credit card company.

They’re goneski. Ring your bank and get a credit card charge-back, if you’ve ordered.

Just been to their premises ? note on door reads as follows:

"SMARTHOME AUSTRALIA CEASED TRADING ON THE 1ST OF APRIL 2014.

"ALL STAFF HAVE BEEN MADE REDUNDANT.

“EXISTING CUSTOMERS WILL RECEIVE FURTHER INFORMATION AS IT BECOMES AVAILABLE.”

I am  with http://smartliving.com.au/

I would not trust the last statement at all. I think that as there may have been some very bad intent behind their last sale by their management as indicated in the whirlpool post.

Once again the market in Australia gets smaller. I do hope the other businesses hit the mark with sustainability.

I ordered stuff at the end of Feb,
after nearly 6 weeks & leaving countless messages
I contacted paypal & smarthome ended up refunding all the money.

At least I got my money back

Cheers

Disappointing don’t know where to buy the Aeotec dimming modules from now. They also ran good specials with 25% off … maybe why they gonski :frowning:

Where is everyone else planning on buying from anyone know any sites that do specials?

2 sites do Zwave… http://www.zwave.com.au and http://www.smartliving.com.au
I’ve bought from both and both are excellent. Were always more helpful than smarthome auz!

Looks like the same dodgy people have opened up again, under a new shell:
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2249480 has details.

+1 http://www.smartliving.com.au
All my gear is from there

Hi all. Just found this thread. +1 for smartliving. If you’re looking for more alternatives, these guys are also great: http://www.rkmsmarthome.com.au - very helpful and cheaper still.

Just to shamelessly give myself a plug…

I supply Z-Wave equipment, primarily in SA, but can ship anywhere.

I buy my gear within Australia with AS certification from Digital Home Systems. I can usually do better pricing than any online stores given I’m a very small operation but am backed up by DHS.

If anyone is interested feel free to have a look at my other post and website: http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,25749.0.html

Hopefully I don’t step on any toes!

Looks like the dodgy people have sold the domain name smarthome and are running a new business under the name www.smarthomepro.com.au
