Last weekend I installed six new GE dimmers and switches, for a total of 14 devices in my VeraLite based system. When I still had only 8 devices, switching scenes was nearly instantaneous, half a second at most. But now some devices take up to seven seconds to switch.
TL;DR version –
Where is the Repair/Restore/Heal option in the current interface? Or is a seven second delay normal and there is nothing I can do?
Detailed account –
I consulted the user guide, knowledge base and wiki. All of these sources mention a procedure that will rejigger the mesh network, but give it three different names: “repair”, “restore” and “heal”. And I can find none of them in the current user interface.
“Repair” is mentioned here:
http://support.getvera.com/customer/en/portal/articles/716646--vl-z-wave-troubleshooting
…but screenshots show a blue interface and a “Repair” tab under “Z-Wave Settings”, but my interface is green and there is no “Repair” tab. Presumably this describes a different version of the software than what I have.
“Restore” is mentioned here:
http://support.getvera.com/customer/en/portal/articles/1630803-settings-tab
It seems to describe the same thing, and the button it shows exists in the current interface, but clicking it prompts me to select a backup. Apparently I misunderstand what that paragraph describes - I wasn’t looking to restore from a backup but get the system to optimize the Z-Wave mesh routing.
“Heal” is mentioned here:
http://wiki.micasaverde.com/index.php/Heal_Network
…but I cannot find the “More Z-Wave Options” it mentions, or anything like it. Presumably this is for an older version of the front end software.
So - I’m confused. Where is the Repair/Restore/Heal option in the current interface? Or am I barking up the wrong tree, there is nothing to fix or optimize, and the seven second delay is perfectly normal?
