I was wondering if anyone knows of a simple on off switch that I can buy. Apparently the Jasco 45609 needs a neutral wire to operate and I live in an old house. I just want a load and line wire. The dimmers from GE can work like this, but not their 2-way?
The ZWave radio requires power in order to operate, which means that it requires a neutral wire.
Dimmer switches get their neutral from sending power throught the incandescent light bulb (with low enough voltage not to turn on the light). On/Off switches can control devices that cannot tolerate this low voltage (flourescents, for example), so they are designed to get their power from a dedicated neutral wire.
The Levtion VRS05 is a 5A on/off switch that does not require a neutral however it can only be used with incandescent loads for the reason mentioned above.
What’s the difference between the vrs05-lz and the vrs05-lx?
Leviton products with a -X suffix include White, Ivory and Almond switch colors; products with a -Z suffix include White, Ivory and Light Almond switch colors.
Also, be aware that Leviton is phasing out all the -1LX stuff as they are moving away from the Almond color in favor of Light Almond.
