I’m looking for the best way (a way) to create a short sound at a modest volume to notify me when someone approaches my house.
The sirens that are available for z-wave are way to loud and will probably sound too long. I could use my doorbell, an old-fashioned analog 12v ringer with e.g. a fibaro micro module and wire it parallel to the doorbell button. Unfortunately the minimum switch time for a command in the vera seems to be 5 seconds. This will be annoying. I could reduce it with hardware using one of these: Long-run timer kit but it becomes somewhat messy this way. Is there a way to switch a fibaro switch or something else for a shorter duration than 5 seconds (e.g. 0.5s)?
If there is a useful signaling device I would be glad to hear it as well. I’m missing a z-wave equivalent of this fs20 signaling device: Signaallamp “FS20 SIG” (sorry not available in english). This device reacts to different events and can play different sound files for different events, plus it gives a visible feedback. I guess there is no easy way to use an FS20 device in a z-wave network and I didn’t find a z-wave alternative. The wintop iAlarm seems to be a similar device but I can find very little information and no manual. It may just be another z-wave alarm.
It would also be OK if my phone could ring briefly with a special ringtone that is reserved just for alerts. But I only see an option for sms and I don’t want to keep deleting sms-messages.
I hope someone found a solution for a similar situation. Thanks.
