Hi, I bought an Edge a couple of months ago and let it sit on the shelf until I felt like I wanted to take on a frustrating, two-day project that would cause me to drop a lot of f-bombs in a short period of time Unfortunately, my Vera2 has stopped connecting to wifi, so I can put off the Edge setup no longer.
I unplugged my old Vera and plugged in the new one, but I can’t seem to get to it. The page keeps trying to connect with my old Vera, which is not plugged in (and it failed to connect even when it was plugged in regardless.)
Anyone have any thoughts or recommendations on how I can set this up? I find no instructions anywhere. I am already planning to re-pair all devices and recreate all scenes based on comments I’ve read. ???
Yes, after a couple of failures to log in with old account info, I created a new account and was able to connect to the Edge. Is there an online manual or something that I’m not finding?
Unfortunately, I can’t get it to pair with any of my devices. Pairing with my old Vera 2 was really easy, so not sure what to even try next. Many of my devices aren’t listed, however, and I’m having to try options that seem similar, so that could be the reason. I have about 30 GE dimmer light switches installed throughout my house, and that isn’t listed in the Lights list. I suppose not surprisingly, nothing happens when I try to pair them. I tried a brand new, fresh out of the box Aeon siren, which is listed, and the Edge sees it but won’t configure it correctly. Any tips on how to make this go more smoothly? I guess at this point, tips to help me pair even one single device?

Have you excluded your devices from the old vera? You can’t add devices to a new vera that are assigned to an old vera. They need to be reset or excluded first then you can add to a new vera. And adding new devices is same as older veras. You don’t need to choose a device. You just use the add and click that the device is within 3 feet even if it isn’t then toggle the switch.
So the actual device knows what hub it is supposed to be connect with? It should be that you can take a backup off the old vera, upload it to the new vera, and every thing should work. I suppose that different UI’s could cause problems.

Yes that is correct. I think the EDGE with its different chip has had more problem then most. But the general idea is to upgrade you current device to ui7 then backup and transfer.
Unfortunately, my old Vera2 is bricked, so I couldn’t unpair devices from it before pairing with Edge. However, I’m happy to report that I was able to successfully pair all of my devices with the new Edge. The Honeywell thermostats were the pickiest, since they really refused to forget my old Vera2. I called for assistance at one point, my call was answered immediately, and I found the techs to be very willing to help. In spite of the time it took for me to figure out how to get it set up without instructions and to re-pair all of my (many) devices, I like the new Edge. However, the mobile app takes FOR-EV-ER to connect. From what I was told by tech support, it’s the only app that supports U17, so I hope they improve it soon.
I even successfully paired a Linear garage door opener/tilt sensor that I just purchased with no difficulty whatsoever. I do think that they should put some simple instructions somewhere, either online or in the box when Edge ships, because the setup is actually not that difficult once you know the process.
Hi. Newbie here.
Trying to install new Edge.
Out of box the lights all lite solid except for wi-fi and service blinking.
On registration screen entered s/n and Mac and spinning wheel never went away.
Logged off and logged back on. Show info but wrong S/N.
Hooked cable to laptop and was able to get into system and did factory reset and then had correct info as far as S/N.
Went back to wireless. Unit still will not connect. Same as when it came out of box.
Did reset with reset button pushed and power back on.
Power and internet light flashing for long time. Hours!!!
