First post, although I have been lurking and reading for a while now. I finally took the plunge and have been setting up my Vera and I have a question about setting up a Leviton VRCS2-MRZ. I am using this as a stacked On/Off switch (not enough space in the wall box for separate switches) and do not need it as a Scene Controller.
When I pair it with Vera, it works perfectly when I turn the lights on and off from Vera. However, they no longer work as manual switches. When I physically push the buttons on the VRCS2-MRZ, nothing happens. Could someone please let me know how I set this up so that the switches will work both as manual switches and through Vera?
You have to include each button as a device by holding the button until the LED turns Amber and then include into the Vera. You then have to setup scenes for each button and assign the button events to activate the scenes.
So before I made my post here, in order to placate the wife who was certain I had broken our switches, I reset the Leviton VRCS2-MRZ’s to Factory mode (just pressed both buttons at the same time until the LEDs turned red). This allowed the switches to work manually again.
After posting here and seeing what I needed to do, I tried to delete the devices from Vera so I could re-add them and set them up properly. I excluded them from Vera per the instructions. Unfortunately, I am getting this weird situation where these switches are adding themselves back into Vera. They just keep showing up as new devices with a message saying “unable to get any information on node”.
Also, I created the scenes to turn the associated lights on and off - no problem. I then linked those scenes within the Scene controller. The problem is that it appears the unit is not communicating back to Vera very well. When I turn the lights on using the physical buttons, Vera seems unaware that they have turned on. They show as Off in the UI4 dashboard and it does not look like the Scene has been run. When I push the physical button again - the lights do not turn off - I think because Vera thinks they are already off and is still trying to turn them on. If I manually run the ON scenes in UI4, then the physical buttons will turn off the lights, but will not turn them back on - again because the switch is not telling Vera that the scene has been run and that the lights are now off.
I guess some of the communication issue might be the “phantom” devices that keep adding themselves back in, but overall I am just confused.
I am sure I am making a ton of Newbie mistakes but any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
