Hi,
I’m wanting to detect when an outside PIR triggered light is on or off.
Has anyone suggestions of how to achieve this - what sensor would you use to detect load?
Cheers

Many PIR lamps have extra contacts to switch additional lighting. I would first check for this and if it exists, use that contact into a z-wave relay.
ps. When asking for suggestions on z-wave kit, don’t forget to say where you are as models vary by country.
Thank Slartibartfast, In Scotland so I’ll have a look when it stops raining! :
So you would suggest use a relay as sensor (but not connect a load to the relay contacts) just use the z-wave status - hadn’t thought of doing that - good idea
Cheers

You will see in the forum that many people use window sensors connected to external contact as doorbell sensor. If your PIR has a contact this can be done in the same way.
If you don’t have a contact then check the Vesternet web site for a switch with power monitor but it is not so easy to control scenes from power usage. See a washing machine monitoring project by another forum user.
