Wow, I don’t think Vera is any where near a ‘professional’ system. I’ve been into home automation for almost 2 decades and I couldn’t even imagine offering Vera as a whole system.
what system is a correct solution then ?? crestron ? control 4 ?
that has fails and limitations too.
I think vera start in DIY market but soon come to be a great and reliable option. has many resources and pros. price is one of that.
The key is vera has a good interface like Fibaro has. MCV do not prioritized the interface, maybe for this vera is not so friendly.
in my house is running solid. the problems I have was with compatibiliy with Leviton products, that’s yet are very hard to work.
When someone says vera is not a solid option I stay sad because if vera is not solid Zwave is not too. and my US$7000 investiment in zwave products and vera will be lost because I put my coins the wrong place ??? I think not !
Based on your experience you don’t think that zwave And Vera are growing up and they should be ready for house installation?
Also because in existing house I don’t see other wireless technology that can be used for home automation.
What do you think?
Thank you for your feedback

I didn’t say Zwave wasn’t. Just not Vera.
Zwave is, and is getting better every day. I don’t see how Vera will ever be ‘good enough’ for a professional install.

Those are not DIY systems, are very expensive, but are very professional.
Vera has a good interface?? What are you comparing to? I would disagree completely.
Vera and zwave are two different products. Just because I say Vera is not professional, doesn’t mean Zwave isn’t and I can’t even imagine how you came to that conclusion?? Zwave IS solid and will be around for many, many more years because of that. It’s already come a long way from day one.
I’m also not saying you should be sad. If Vera works for you then great! I just bought one for my mothers house because it is cheap ( got a refurb Vera for $100 ), and I can add zwave devices to do anything she would need, obviously she wouldn’t need a professional system, just some lighting and access control. From this I can say for sure that Vera is not professional and probably never will be for several reasons, mainly because it doesn’t appear that MCV wants it to be professional.
I do not have experience with another systems, maybe I have only said something because vera for me is a good system and zwave technology give me chance to have a system for a honest price.
I think vera’s destiny can be writed for all of us users.
i think we are heading towards exciting times for automation … Expect many interesting products to come out real soon: Almond+, SmartThings, Vera new lineup, etc.
Automation, internet of things, and the likes is trending in a staggering way, just take a look at Reddit or crowdfunding sites 8)
