I’m looking at getting some IP66 weatherproof POE Hikvision cameras to integrate with Vera for motion detection, monitoring, and alert.
I’m looking at these cameras:

From what I’ve read, you want your cameras to be mounted 10-12 feet high. But I’m wondering which cameras to use for which side of the house.
If you can, take a look at the photos of the 4 sides of my house. My house sits sideways on a cul-de-sac. I’m wondering which cameras to get, and where to place them.

First you need to see where you want to mount them. Looking at the pictures you don’t have much flat area to mount domes. So looks like you might be only down to one choice the bullet.
The bullet has better IR coverage and less change of glare. It’s also more versatile to mount.
The dome has a the available wider lens.
I own both the Bullet and Dome in your links, never used the turret. The dome is not 3 axis, which means making it mount on the side wall doesn’t work well or at all.
I was thinking that if I went with domes for some areas, I would use the Hikvision DS-1258ZJ wall mount bracket.
Ahhh Yes you can do that. Well for me I would go with the bullet. Internal camera is the same, if anything you gonna have more problems with dome due to IR glare at night. They have foam inside to try and stop it and it does for the most part but it also blocks the IR lights a bit. So bottomline picture is the same or better on the bullet and it don’t need an extra bracket.
I like the domes like on a porch where it mounted against a celing or where I need the 2mm wide angle lens that the bullet doesnt have.
Software and internals are identical on those two.
Here is a live still from the Dome in my front yard under the eve in the middle of the house. It’s about 35ft ish to the street and property is 150ft wide.
This is the Wide 2.8mm lens.

That’s quite a fish-eye effect with the 2.8mm lens.
How high off the ground is your camera mounted?
About how much “dead zone” area is there under your camera to the side of the house?
Grass looks good.

Yes has fish eye with 2.8 but after testing this one camera covers whole front with of property. With 4mm I would loose 1/4.
Its under the eve of a single story house with raised foundation. I would say 9-10ft tops from ground and street is lower then house by about 5 feet.
The house has a planter maybe 2-3 feet out from house then the walkway, which you can see a bit. The eve sticks over 2 feet from the wall of the house. So you loose maybe 5 to 6 feet under the camera.
Here is some 4mm in the front corners of the house and the front porch.
I think I might have old test shots of a 4mm In the same sport as the current 2.8 also. I’ll look for them
Here is a night shot of the same camera.
To start with, I’m going to get (3) Hikvision 4mm lens bullet cameras, an 8-port POE injector, and an 8-port switch to tie into the main switch in my house.
How did you run the cables?
I think I’m going to pretty much have to run mine along the outside of the house, and then punch through the garage where the POE and switch are located.
What is the commonly accepted way to do this?
[ul][li]Run outdoor-grade CAT6 cable stapled along the siding (at a height that can’t be easily tampered with)?[/li]
[li]Bury outdoor-grade CAT6 cable underground?[/li]
[li]Run CAT6 through PVC conduit? Above-ground or underground?[/li]
[li]Run CAT6 through metal conduit? Above-ground or underground?[/li][/ul]
I can’t really punch through the exterior wall to the interior of the house because there’s no simple and direct way to get to the garage from inside the house. My house is 2-story and the camera’s will be mounted just above the height of the 1st story, about 10-ft above ground. The attic is another ~10-ft above the cameras and I don’t know how I’d get into the garage from the attic. So, that’s why I’m thinking I have to run these cables on the outside somehow.
Both my houses are one story, so attic was easy access for me. Can’t help you much with 2 story.
