So WTF? Does Radio Shack know something we don’t? Are they clearing out due to a Z-Wave bug in these or something? Why so cheap? I would assume that if they knew something we dont then I’d be able to get these prices at amazon.com and others…
Anyone have any ideas why RadioShack only has these prices?
Yep now online prices match the in-store prices I mentioned above.
Just my own speculation but I think RadioShack just wasn’t selling much of the stuff. The store manager at the store I went to didn’t know anything about installing it and thought it’s too complicated to mess with. Probably someone up the foodchain at RS just decided they don’t want to deal with the stuff anymore, so they’re clearing it out.
The products just weren’t selling.
This type of a product never does well at retail, because store employees cannot really support it or even speak intelligently about it. Potential z-wave customers wouldn’t even know to venture into Radio Shack to buy the equipment. They’re much more likely to purchase online anyway.
The Radio Shack employees I have spoken with at various stores didn’t really know how the system worked. They tend to ask ME questions about it!
Well that was just too good to pass up. Had to get $420 worth of thermostats, swithes and outlets. Only $6.60 shipping.
Same here! I even bought a door lever for the shed! The wife compared my excitement to the half-yearly sale at Nordstroms for her! Well, off to another radio shack for some more appliance modules - for $15 I can put everything in the house on z wave. Haha ![]()
Well as some of you have noticed Radio Shack has revised their sale again. I jumped on the thermostat and several of the locks a few days ago while they were still in stock. After checking the site today the Trane thermostat is now 60 dollars, most of the locks are sold-out, but they have in-stock the GE switches for a unbelievable 20 dollars and the lamp and appliance modules are just 15. I just stocked up on several of each. Thanks to Radio Shack I have expanded my z-wave system quite a bit!
Will the wall switches work with CFL 's?
Thanks
No these are for incandescent bulbs. The one for CFL’s is the 45614 kit. It comes with a relay switch and axillary switch.
@ paintguy
These are dimmable switches so unless the cfl’s are of the dimmable variety they will not work correctly and sometimes even if they are dimmable I have still encountered problems with certain dimmable cfls and zwave switches because of the minimum load requirements. Its best to use on/off switches when working with cfl’s or LED’s.
Checked a few of the local Shacks, and they showed having the lever locks in at two fairly
nearby, so I went and relieved them of those, 4 of the outlets, and two each of the lamp
and appliance modules. All three stores I hit still had the starter kits with the bridge,
and still do.

Wow…
I purchased the Schlage BE369 lock yesterday on the last day of the “Sale” for $79.99. I went to the Radio Shack website today to check my order and guess what?
Schlage LiNK™ BE369 Deadbolt (Satin Nickel)
$69.99
Hello!!! I called them and they’re now looking to refund me the $10+ dollars. If you wanted one of these before and weren’t sure, make sure to grab it now incase it’s pricing mistake.
Some “sale” eh?
$15 for an outlet?!
The prices on everything are dirt cheap now.
For instance the Trane Thermostat is now $59.97! …Just got a $30 credit to my account for the price difference (mine were delivered yesterday). Guy was super nice about it too.
Wow! Can someone give me an reason to replace my standard Schlage keypad deadbolts with Z-Wave compatible ones? Keypad access is awesome, but can’t think of reason I would need access through Z-wave network, besides it being cool.
Last week when the outlets were 24,99 they were 54.99 in store.(Even printed the web site and they looked itup BUT refused to over ride the price) Do we know if this is INSTORE pricing also?
I talked to a local RS the other day about these deals. The guy told me they wouldn’t match the online prices. Said it was web only price. So I guess it comes down your local store, and if you can talk them into matching it.
Buy online and choose ship to store and you won’t pay any shipping and you’ll still get the cheap price. Only down side is you have to wait a little while to get your items.

I called before i went so they are in store also. Gonna hit up some more stores now ![]()
I had the same argument in my local RS last week, and they eventually matched the price as it was not marked Online Only on the website.
