Schledge Deadbolt

I am VERY new to the mi case verde system and home automation. I just received the Vera 3 and a few device to install. One of the devices I ordered was a Schledge deadbolt (model BE399). I assumed it would communicate via the Z-Wave technology but it appears that I need to sign up to Schledge’s NEXIA service and also buy a device called a “bridge” Is this correct or will the deadbolt communicate directly with the Vera 3?

Any help of instructions getting these two devices to talk to each other would be greatly appreciated.

Hi fubar. I just buy the fe599 schlage lock and i connect directly to Vera. Good luck !!

see this for more info: http://wiki.micasaverde.com/index.php/Schlage_Lock

Thanks for the help. I made a little progress.

Some of this stuff seems overly complicated and almost all of the instructions are outdated.

Not sure the instructions you are referring to. Here are the Vera instructions http://docs5.mios.com/doc.php?language=1&manual=1&platform=3Lite&page=door_locks
