Schlage won't turn on lights for Bad Code

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone else had an issue like this.

I want to set up my Schlage Deadbolt (electronic keypad, manual throw) to turn on my front porch and living room lights when any code is entered, whether it be correct or incorrect. I have a scene I created called Turn On Lights (pretty self-explanatory).

I have gone through and set up a trigger for this scene for each of my good PIN codes. I was a little disappointed that I couldn’t find any settings to just say do it for any correct PIN, but this is the way I found that works. However, when I say to trigger the scene for Bad PIN Code entered, nothing happens. I can type in random PIN codes, and while the lock flashes red and denies access, it will not turn on the lights.

I have only had my Vera Lite for a couple weeks and am slowing getting things set up. It’s a great little device and I love having the network! If anyone has tips for me on how to make this work better, I’d be much appreciative.

For all good PINs, you should be able to just use * instead of the Code index number.

For bad pins, maybe the lock doesn’t support that, and perhaps only Kwikset ones do (others maybe)? I’m not sure these things are created equal!?

Have you tried to just set up an alert as as test? I know my Kwickset will send an alert for a bad PIN, so I’m sure I could trigger a scene also!

The [tt]Bad PIN Code[/tt] event is only sent after 4 consecutive bad attempts, i.e. when the lock goes into a 30-second lockdown. At least that’s how it works for the Schlage lever, haven’t tested it on their deadbolt.

Strangely: Great call on using the * instead of a number! Works perfectly now and cleans up my list of triggers

oTi@: Thanks for the explanation on the BAD CODE definition. I had not tried actually making the system lock me out. Once I entered 4 consecutive incorrect PINs it turned on the lights as I wanted.

I appreciate the help!
