My Lock keeps giving a red cog after over a year of reliable operation. I would like to un-pare and re-pare my lock. My dongle is in sufficient range to pare, but if I want to un-pare should I still remove the dongle?
The wiki is not clear on un-paring if was pared to your network, only if was pared to another network.
Also, I noticed my “Model:” as Pre-Certified
I also have another door lock without any problems and that “Model:” says Certified.
I wonder if there is a way to upgrade the firmware in the lock?
Should the lock say Certified or not? Mine says “Pre-certification door lock” as model…and it will not let me add users via software, I CAN delete users entered on the lock itself.
Being close was important for me with my Schalge deadbolt. Vera is only a few feet from the lock through a hollow wall, but I still had to pull the lock from the door and bring it to Vera (I tried bringing Vera to the lock, but it didn’t work).
Also, the wiki had a lot of redundant steps, I followed the ones toward the end of the page (although it looks like some new was added there fairly recently).
I have one of each, a certified and pre-certified. They both work fine, but it seems I have more issues with the pre-cert lock.
Regarding this post, I actually never re-pared the lock. It became real wonky after I’ve been adding codes all last week for a contractor coming to do work at my house and I lost all user names and it red cogged. I wound up changing batteries (since the meter was now yellow) with limted success in being able to configure immediately for a green cog.
Then I did a network heal (which has trashed my network before, but I was desperate.) Luckily it worked.
I also tried one more thing and I’m not sure if it helped or not, but my scenes were very inconsistently firing when tied to the back door.
So when playing with the scene control I noticed that I duplicated names for the front and back door. So I change the user names to “name-f” or “name-b” depending on what door it was on. I wasn’t sure if that was screwing with the Vera db of user names for locks.
Distance is also a factor, I extended a USB dongle to be close to both locks.
So far it has been working ok again. I still would like to know if I can update the fw on my pre-cert lock. I’ll have to call schlage myself since micasa doesn’t know. They are really good at answering posts in short terse replies that address only parts of questions with little or any elaboration. Sometimes they don’t even acknowledge other parts of a post. It would be nice to just to see them say “I don’t know”
btw, I’m running 979 UI2. I refuse to upgrade until UI4 is out and a few adventurers (fools) break it in.
