I installed a new BE469NX and connected it to my VeraEdge. It was working fine. Could lock/unlock, get battery status as well as assign or remove pins. It was in the default 4 digit mode. I wanted more security so I changed the pin length via the physical lock (not the Vera, because I was not sure I could…). Now I cannot set pins. I get a “Username or Pin already in use” when I know it is not. Yes - tried several different ones.
I notice that the MaxPinSize and MinPinSize are still set to 4 when I look at Device->Advanced->Variables.
I have called support and logged a ticket and emailed them with no response at all after 24+ hours.
Is there anyway to get the vera to reconfigure with the lock so that the PINs will work again? I was hoping to do this without having to remove and repairing the device.
Do I have to remove the lock, then repair? How do I do that (I am new to this) as the documentation on line does not really cover UI7 and I see no way to “exclude” the device via the UI? If I delete the device, does that remove configuration from the device itself too? Do I have to reset the device? If so, is that the “Factory Reset” Procedure?
I looked up your email address but you must have used a different one for your Customer Care ticket. If you could please email me from that address I will make sure someone gets in touch with you as soon as possible.
MCV Tech support called me. The tech increased the length of the MaxPinSize variable.
Interesting - now I can enter 4-8 digit pin codes via Vera. When you enter it via the deadbolt keypad, it will only allow what you set the PinCodeLength to be.
This is actually a much better feature than the lock just by itself.
I stand corrected. You can set the max and min pin size variables to a range. Say 4-8. But only the pins that are equal to the size of the pinLength programmed into the door lock are actually accepted. After some time, the ones that do not equal the size of the pinLength programmed into the door fail and you get an alert. For this lock it seems you need to set max/minPinSize to the same value that you program into the lock pinLength.

Just to make sure that you understand. I believe that when you add pin codes directly into the lock rather than via Vera that they do not get pushed back into Vera. I could be wrong, it has been some time since I tested this but I am fairly sure that I remember correctly.
Marc, I don’t believe you are correct about the pin codes being pushed back to Vera. All of the pin codes I entered into my BE469NX are listed in the “Pin Codes” screen. As a matter of fact, I just entered a new one and it appeared on the list. I have not tried entering any codes into the Vera itself.
pjtvnet5, I am not sure what the support team actually did. My MinPinSize and MaxPinSize are both set to 4 in the Vera but, it is set to 6 in the lock. The lock requires your pin to be 6 digits. Seems like there may be more to your issue. Glad they got it working for you though. I am on a VeraPlus with latest firmware (1.7.1754). Perhaps that might have something to do with our different values.
PIN codes entered at the lock show up with generic names, but I cannot see the actual PIN code I see ****
If I enter a PIN code at the VeraEdge UI (I have 1.7.1707) I can name them and I see the codes I entered as long as I have the checkbox “show pin codes in clear” marked.
You can set the lock to accept a certain PIN Length (size) via the programming instructions that came with the lock. The default is 4. When I changed the PIN size at the lock itself, I had to update the Vera MaxPinSize and MinPinSize to match the PIN size I selected when programming the lock.
The Vera will let me set a PIN size range, for instance MinPinSize =4 and MaxPinSize = 8, but the door will only accept PIN sizes that the lock is set to. For instance if I program the lock to take a pin length of 6 I get errors if I try to enter pins that are 4,5 7, and 8 via the Vera.
I get the same on this one. All I see are **** even though I have selected Show Pin Codes in Clear.
I get the same on this one. I enter the PIN codes on my VeraPlus (1.7.1754). I can name them and I see the codes in the clear. I did have to set my MaxPinSize to match the value in my lock (6) before it would work.
Ditto on this one also.
