I anticipated this reply from having read (and, frankly, written a lot of) the Schlage Lock wiki.
However, I hasten to add that my Vera lives 13 feet from the lock, and I have an RP-200 lamp module positioned directly between Vera and the lock.
I’m going to chalk this up to .899, for no other reason than I had never before encountered a red cog of any kind in my plain-vanilla Z-Wave setup.
Submitted ticket 1108 re: this issue, even if it merely provides an additional data set for MCV to inspect.
I hate to disagree with the MCV tech support however I do not believe the distance is the issue in this case. I am running the latest firmware on Vera with the latest dongle and my wiring closet is directly in front of the entry door. I actually moved the Vera so close that the antenna was touching the lock at one point and it still and it took a number of tries before Vera paired with the Schlage lock. We are talking nearly 45 minutes of trying both method 1 and 2. I should also point out that I disconnected my Nevo Connect that also runs Z-wave to make sure there was no frequency interference in the 900 Mhz range. My suggestion is to be patient and pay attention to how much time you allow between the time you punch in the code on the lock and then press the Schlage button. I never saw double blinking amber light and the green light was almost un-noticeable and managed to get the two paired up.
veyron4me, If you’re doing the pairing with Vera connected to the internet, try enabling verbose logging and submitting a trouble ticket after it fails to pair. We’ll be able to tell you exactly what it is. And I’ll copy/paste the low-level Z-Wave Serial API traffic and the status codes in case any techies are interested.
I tried lots of fixes, but then I followed this one and I’ve been good ever since. Just in case you hadn’t seen this.
