Obviously, these things are made for use on exterior doors–but expected use is probably in fairly dry locations, like under a substantial porch overhang. We have an attached garden shed that has a modest eave above the door, but the door clearly gets wet. For those of you who’ve gotten these, in your estimation, how well would they stand up to some exposure to rain, vis-a-vis moisture incursion?

I have 3 Schlage locks that are on exterior doors, and have been that way for at least a year with no issues thus far…
No promises of course, but my exterior Schlage locks are just fine. Right now, they’re probably covered with snow, but they still work just fine. No corrosion or deterioration at all.

I have both Schlage and Kwikset installed on exterior gates with no protection. They have both been great through all this year’s heavier than normal rainstorms.
I’m in SoCal, so compared to TheGadgetGuy with his snow it might not sound like much, but for us it’s been a lot of rain!

Good to hear. I’ve tried to parse back through the posts about these locks. We have our Vera (1) on the kitchen counter in the middle of a fairly large house. The place where I’d be putting this lever lock is probably 50 feet away, through one interior and one exterior wall. I have the sense that this is too much to hope for working. There are a variety of Z-wave relays (ZRF113), light switches (Leviton) that are much closer, but apparently, these don’t grok/relay the lock commands required. I can move Vera somewhat closer, but would prefer to keep it where it is. It sounds like what I’d need to do is have a chain of Schlage relays to cover probably two hops to the lock location. Are there any other devices that relay/forward this stuff?

No, your lock won’t work from 50 feet away from Vera without at least one node between them that supports the beaming.
That being said, a $15 module should take care of that requirement without too much difficulty. Go to your local Radio Shack. Get one of their GE branded lamp or appliance modules. They’re on clearance, and should suit your needs.
Once you have your network set up with enough beaming nodes, the locks will work very well for you. I currently have 6 locks in my network, some spread out pretty far away, and they all communicate with Vera.

I have 2 locks on my home in Leavenworth WA and it gets pretty cold during the winter (9F) this winter and hot in the summer. They get a fair amount of snow there and one lock is exposed to the snow and freezing rain and seems to work find. They don’t get heavy rain there so I can’t comment about rain.
Mine is on a South facing door in Ohio and it takes the brut force of the weather with no issues. I have used the pre-Zwave Schlage here for three or four years and have had the z-wave one since they first came out.
10F this morning with some light snow and ice - no concerns about the lock working here.
