I’m having a problem with zwave events I was hoping someone could give me some pointers.
I have a Schlage deadbolt zwave device.
I am able to setup notifications or scenes to respond to the Door Open/Close event, but not any other events.
In particular the Bad PIN event and PIN entered events I’m interested in. I’ve read in the forums and it seems that other people at least receive the PIN entered events properly.
I’ve tried setting notifications for these events and I don’t receive them, and I’ve tried setting a scene to respond to the events and that doesn’t work either.
How would I go about troubleshooting this problem?
For ‘A PIN Code is entered’ events, you want to refer to the PINs by their sequence number (so, 1, 2, or 3, etc. See the ‘PIN codes’ tab for the lock) in the ‘Which PIN code number?’ field, not the actual PIN. Have you tried that?
Yeah, I have tried entering 4 pins in a row and the keypad locks out, but no event.
And, yes, I entered the sequence number in the PIN code number field. But it didn’t work (I also tried using the PIN number and a zero based index as test cases as well, which of course didn’t work).
Mmm. Odd. I don’t have the deadbolt; I have the lever. But I imagine it works the same way, also from this thread that you’ve probably found, where it sounded like @Intrepid got the deadbolt to work with both good and bad PINs.
So, you’re at the point now where your deadbolt works (can be locked/unlocked), the open/close events work, but not the good/bad pin events?
Ok, I’m feeling fooish. :o I ran a heal with stress test and now it’s working fine for me. Previously I’d only run a heal. I’m not sure I understand why a stress test would make any difference (I only have two devices). But it’s working now.
As long as you share what you did and we all learn, no need to feel foolish.
Did you perhaps recently update to 1245?
After the healing your routing could be improved, although i dont see any reason why the stress test should alter anything. Apart from maybe a disturbed signal that prevented your first heal not to work completely.
The stress test runs multiple polls on the device… so maybe that did it for you…
I’m a brand new vera2 owner, and I believe I updated to 1245 before I added any devices.
As an aside, I’m also seeing this in my logs. I don’t know if it is normal or not?:

Awesome! And nothing to feel foolish about. She does stuff in the background. I had a 1-button zone controller the other day that didn’t control the associated light anymore. Could control it fine through other ways. The next day, it is working again. I did not monkey with the zone controller in any way… :
