Schlage Deadbolt and Vera 3 Pairing

So I upgraded from a Vera 2 to a Vera 3 and I have to say that the new UI is more buggy and less intuitive than the old UI. But to get back on topic. I am re-adding all of my devices and can’t get my Schlage to re-pair. I tried to exclude, no response from the Vera. I tried to include, no response from Vera. Both times the lock timed out. I reset the lock and tried again, nothing. I am holding the Vera up against the lock, nothing.

Of course the old instructions are the only ones I can find and they talk about pressing a red and black button on the back of the Vera 2. The Vera 3 doesn’t have buttons on the back and no colored buttons on the front.

I had to do a factory reset, Exclude the lock, and then pair it with vera to get it to work. I dont remember if I excluded before the reset or not so I recommend doing an exclude prior to the reset and after. I also could never get full power include to work so I used the battery and held vera within about a foot of the lock. Ive also read that too close may hinder (not sure why) so to be safe I try to stay at that 1 foot range.

On vera3 to enter exclude mode you press and hold the zwave button for three sceonds, the light will flash fast. (http://docs5.mios.com/doc.php)
To exit exclude mode you tap the zwave button, which puts you back into add mode, then tap it again. I always fully exit exclude mode and reboot vera before I try to add a device just to be sure.

To reset your lock -
Disconnect the batteries or just the 9v for the deadbolt lock.
Press and release the Schlage button
reconnect the batteries
Wait till the schlage light goes out and then quickly press and hold the schlage button until the light turns green and it beeps.

Then try to include.

Thanks for the reply, but the Vera is not acknowledging any excludes from the lock. The lock has been reset.

My vera didnt acknowledge the exclude but I did get the proper beeps from the lock. I also did a factory reset more than once. It took me about 20 min to finally get it to pair.

I also made sure the AA’s were making a good contact. There’s a post some where about the AA battery tray not making proper contact so the zwave part has no power.

On the flip side I could never get the lock to pair when I was using mControl.

I guess these things can be finiky.

I’ll try replacing the AA’s. I’ve been at this another 2 hours tonight, ticking me off.

EDIT: I replaced all of the batteries and I paired up, no problem. Such an easy fix. I forgot I hadn’t replaced the batteries in over a year.
