Schlage BE469NX - suitable repeater ?

After getting the 8 locks paired just fine, I have a problem reliably reaching a couple of the BE469NX after installation. I moved the VeraEdge to a more (lock) central location, still a problem. I’ve tried adding repeaters, did not fix. Somewhere browsing the www I saw a comment that said the Schlage locks require a Gen5 repeater?

Anybody knows? Are you using repeaters with your Schlage locks? -which?

This is VeraEdge UI7. Thank you.

I don’t use any repeaters with my 3 Schlages but that’s because my Zwave network mesh extends to all of them due to the number of z-wave switches and other devices close to them.

If you have very old versions of the Schlage locks, they are buggy and don’t work well if not talking directly to the Vera (no repeater or mesh will help you), unfortunately the new version of the Vera Edge firmware no longer allows you to manually set the route which would be the work arround for this problem. I am not sure of the best way to address. If they are new locks beefing up you mesh will help, gen 5 devices are good because they tend to support the secure beaming protocol well, but most newer gen 4 devices should also be fine.

The locks are about 6 months old, almost certainly a later version.

I’ve been using the Aeotec DSD37 repeater, but they don’t seem to make any difference. Added a Smart Switch 6 (Gen5), which helped one of the locks.

Thinking of added another Smart Switch 6 to see what happens.

I had some issues with my locks, especially when UI7 went through the beginning stages. My locks are spread out so I found it best to configure the lock right next to the Vera, even leaving them overnight, before installing them. I haven’t had any trouble in the last 6 months with my locks and UI7.

My front door lock did need a light switch between the Vera and the lock to keep a solid connection.

Not all ZWave devices that repeat will repeat the encrypted signal that is used to communicate between Vera and the lock. This is more true on older ZWave devices, of course.

Look to see if the ZWave device you want to use as a repeater supports “Beaming”.
