I can confirm that the mod used to pair a SA720CN smoke alarm with an X10 DS10A, also works fine with the Everspring Z-Wave Door/Window Sensor. The mod instructions are here, just substitute the everspring sensor with the DS10A.
This is working well with Veralite and hitting test button on smoke alarm sends a text and email notification the way I set it up
