RZCZ4 Zone Controller not working

I’ve got two RZCZ4 zone controllers that I’m having trouble with. I had one of them working fine and the other wasn’t working right and have done so many different things and had it all messed up so I did a factory reset on my Vera Lite box. I’ve got all my other switches working again but cannot get these zone controllers to activate some scenes I’ve created. What is the process for excluding/including these devices and getting scenes to work?

I could really use some help here. I’m unable to remove the “scene controllers” I have showing up in my interface and need assistance adding the them so that they work.

RU in UI7? If so open the device by clicking on the arrow/right triangle. Then press delete device button at the bottom of the page. When the dialog box comes up press delete.

I have had no luck pairing these without having the Vera within a foot of the device.

I am in UI7. I have do the delete process through the interface DOZENS of times and it keeps showing back up. The name of the device is strange as has some special characters in it (I did not do this. It did it automatically). The special characters are often different when it shows back up.

Do I need to get a long ethernet cable and have the device close to the vera when I try to delete it too?

No this should not be required. RU running 1.7.439 or 1.7.481. I upgraded to .481 and it seemed to improve the operation of the controller. You may want to change the name of the device before you try to delete it. Also delete your browser cache and reload Luup.

I upgraded to .481 a few days ago hoping it would help the problem. It didn’t. I just gave that a try and it still wants to pop back up. I’m nearing the point of excluding everything on my network (only 12 dimmer switches) and resetting the entire box. Is this crazy?

Did you remove the special characters before you try to delete it. The zwave configuration is stored in xml and special characters will mess them up. I have had some luck with a factory reset and restore of a backup using the restore zwave settings checkbox.

per your suggestion I removed the special characters from the name, configured name, and initial name. After going through its process it reappeared as “4 scne zone controller” for a few seconds and then changed its name go “Zone Controller &$#” but I don’t even know how to type the special characters it is really using.

When you go to the advanced tab is the controlled via set to zwave[]? It does look like you my need to do a factory reset followed by a backup prior to the messed up devices. There is a command that bypasses the UI in the link below.
