I’m trying to include a new Schlage lock and I get this error on the vera UI whenever I hold down the black button and press the red button to include. I originally setup this network with vera as a secondary controller to control my existing Vizia nodes. Will vera not include the lock if it was not originally the primary? Can I upgrade it to primary and include the lock?

The easiest thing to do is to reset Vera so that it’s the primary controller.
As far as I know it’s a one way street.
Once you make another device the primary controller, you have to use the:
Devices → More Z Wave Options → Reset Z-Wave Chip &/or Reset Z-Wave Network
Or to just reset the entire Vera unit.
