rolladin shutters, hurricane shutters

several months ago, I asked if anyone knew of z-wave switches that I could use to replace the control switches that operate my rolladin shutters. the switches that are there now look like standard wall switches, but when I removed the plate, I could tell by the size of the wires that they were low-voltage. they have three positions, up, neutral, and down.

Has anyone heard of a z-wave solution to this.

I’m not sure about your options with Z-Wave switches, but for Rolling Shuters with tubular motors you could add a Z-Wave enabled motor controller to each Shuter and then use any Z-Wave remote or scene switch to control the shades.

Do you know if the existing switches are actually switching low voltage (+/- 24V ?) or if they are just switching a contact closure (+/- 5V) which in turn switches relays that are controlling the power (+/- 24V) …either way a Z-Wave shade controller could work here I believe.

either a DBMZ or a DC1-ZW

thanks for the information, Shady. I will inspect the motor and try to determine what type of switches I currently have and call the manufacturers to see if they have something that will work.

I searched to find information on exactly this topic. I’ve never seen a 3-position or momentary Z-wave switch either; what’s everyone else done?
