I just realised that Auto Update does not work beyond occasionally updating the plug-in version number under ‘My Apps’ (a fiendish tactic to lure the unsuspecting into thinking the latest version is actually running - someone in MCV obviously has a warped sense of humour).
While I appreciate this is not new news to many, I would like to ask the many wonderful developers of plug-in’s to PLEASE incorporate a field in the advanced tab of your next plug-in update named “PluginVersion”( or similar) to make it much simpler to identify what revision the plug-in thinks it is, so it can be checked against the history on apps.mios.com. For those that have already thought of this - thank you.
Taking Frasiers idea a bit further - I’m also wondering if its possible for someone to add a manual update button on the device itself as well , maybe using the current ‘manual’ work around app update URL.

I assume the plugin ID will be known at the point it is published on the App Store.[/quote]
And taking Parker’s idea a step further, could someone write a plugin whose job it is is to control (by schedule and/or rules) when installed plugins get updated, and then update them?

There is another thread on this ... I have started to work on this as well as an alternate to MCV app store.
