Request for new board to post topics related to deals or on-sale discussions

Dear moderators,

I think it would it be nice to create a new child board to post topics related to deals or on-sale discussions. The home automation community is growing and I’m sure more people like me are looking for best deals on z-wave products. What do you think?

With that being said, I want to share that I ordered GE 45604 from eBay for under $21 (shipping included). It costs around $40 in major online stores (including Amazon).

Thanks

I like the idea but perhaps we could also include posts with equipment from from members? For exampleI have some GE 3 way dimmers I am not able to use (1st house buy (had 3 ways setups) fell through and the one I bought has no 3 ways switches)

Also recalling this prior topic.

I’ve been thinking the same lately and I was just about to post about it. Getting into Z-Wave is fun, but building up a system for my whole house is costly. I’ve been able to save some already by waiting for sales on things I want, but it sure would be nice to have a collective effort. SmartHome had a Labor Day sale for $15 off $200 and $35 of $300 so I used it to pick up a Yale lock and a Global Cache IP2IR for $260 delivered. I didn’t see it until late the last day, so I almost missed the sale. And the outdoor plug module that Raj linked–I picked that up from an Amazon Market Place vendor for $20 with Prime shipping back in April. On a related note, camelcamelcamel.com (not a joke, not spam) is a great way to see price history for Amazon items.

Amazon is currently offering 20% off Schlage Link devices sold by Amazon (not Market Place vendors) through Oct 31. I’m picking up a Schlage Link Door Sensor for $30 and a Motion Sensor for $40. This sale includes the Door Lock, the Trane Thermostat, and plug modules. The discounts don’t appear until the final shopping cart page before submitting, so make sure to check that you’re getting the discount on that page. I haven’t checked all the competing sites, but the discounted prices seem pretty good.

What do you say mcvflorin? A little savings help for us forum vistors??

Will

I think this is a great idea, I actually was looking for something like this when I started to order my equipment. The community members are always updating their equipment and may want to sell their old stuff at a discount to help pay for the newer stuff.

Another great thread - describe your setup. As a new user the biggest struggle is finding out what parts works with Vera, which ones works well with others, what part numbers are what and how to use the correct equipment. I keep trying to look at people’s signature to see the equipment they have and google the part numbers and cost. It would be great if people could list their equipment, approximate cost of setup and what it all does so the people just starting out can take advantage of all the expert advice and trial and error experience.
