Got my replacement dongle in the mail today, but cannot install as even after letting Vera sit for over 3 hours I still get “Last Dongle Backup: N/A” after upgrading to 886 firmware.
Wasn’t 879 the last quasi-official firmware release? What are you doing in 886 already?
I’m a bit confused, I’m running firmware 862, and I thought that was the last firmware upgrade, but it seems there are later versions. When I login to Findvera, it tells me I’m running the latest, which I guess makes sense from an “official release” perspective. But where do I find these later firmware versions?
Slackner, I’m as guilty as anyone trying to “game the system” and sneaking a peek at “things to come.” However, I have to say it: We’d be well-advised to wait for the OFFICIAL announcements, rather than download (or worse, install) unannounced beta firmware.
Evidence is mounting that these 'tweener revisions sometimes lack the proper ‘hooks’ for Vera to work correctly with the FindVera service, or Luup functionality gets broken, etc.
Nobody wants to wind up with a Vera that’s not only temporarily incapacitated, but cannot easily submit a trouble ticket nor easily restore her to a previous known-working firmware.
look what you started Libra!
I may not be a issue for those of us who know how to recover a bricked unit, for the rest of those they should stay away from unreleased versions unless directed by the folks MCV.
I got an advanced copy of 886 from MCV as it was supposed to remedy issue I have been having regarding scenes operating properly.
I think MCV would do well to (a) keep the LIST of official / betaware firmware releases more current at:
http://wiki.micasaverde.com/index.php/Vera_Luup_Releases
And (b) BLOCK sneaky users like us from being able to “preview” upcoming 1.0.xxx releases just by tweaking the download URL. They could easily do this by secretly morphing the URL until they want to release it into the wild.
