Hoping someone can help me. I’ve searched the internet, and for the life of me cannot figure this out.
I added 4 new door locks, paired them in the same fashion as I did the original (still existing) by pairing them close to my Vera 3. All worked, door codes added etc. Then, when I placed them in their spots, I get the error of them not being able to be detected. No problem I thought…I’ll just add the Evolve lsm-15 wall mount switch as a repeater, which is located a ft from my original working door lock, and which is approx 5 ft from one of the door locks that I am having issues with.
I read about healing, and repairing, which apparently no longer exists. I tried to go into advanced settings for each device, and add each as neighbors. it did update, but still wont allow me to control. Am I missing something like node or something? Do I need to re-add each lock after the repeater now?
Another thing on the neighbors list in advanced, my existing front door lock doesnt see the wall switch as a neighbor either.
The heal operations will happen automatically each night, so your problem might work itself out.
You should not manually change the neighbor fields, they should be informational only. You probably should not change any field on the advanced tab unless you really know what you’re doing.
You are most likely facing an issue with distance and lack of mesh density. It may not be possible to get them all working without adding additional node or relocating Vera.
But, you really went wrong by including and configuring the locks and then relocating them. Locks need to be setup in situ, moving Vera if necessary.
I would suggest that you start by working with the lock closest to the switch. Exclude the lock and the include it again, moving Vera close to the lock as will probably be needed. Then after moving Vera back to its original location, you may need to wait for a heal.
After getting the previous lock working, you then need to move on to the next one repeating the previous steps and adding devices as needed. I recommend the use of an appliance module such as the GE 45603 Appliance Module as a an effective tool to test and expand your Z-Wave mesh. Its portability allows you to easily find the best location for your intermediate nodes. Just remember that the network needs to heal after you have relocated it.
Also remember that any battery powered device doesn’t really count as improving your mesh. Battery powered devices don’t pass along messages they only receive them, so one lock is not going to help pass along messages to another, you need wired devices. Aeon labs makes a plug in repeater but is a bit pricey for the fact that it does nothing but repeat your signal.
Unfortunately, it hasnt healed itself after a few days.
I know that the battery devices wont repeat, and that why I added the light switch. The light switch works for it’s purpose (turns on and off the lights like it should). As mentioned, it is only located a foot or two from an existing door that was (and still is ) functioning normally. The door lock I added is only about 4-5 ft from this light switch, through an outside wall.
I’ll try as you suggest, and exclude the door lock, and try to get it re-added.
Yale, non touchscreen. I tried to re-add it, moved the Vera 3 to the lock, and added it successfully. Let it sit for 10-15 mins close by, and then moved the vera back to its original position. Tried to send a command to the lock, and it gave me the message of “please Wait: getting Secure Classes”. This hasnt changed in over an hour. I’m having doubts as to whether this will correct itself, as it displayed the same message last week.
Could it be that I need to change some settings on the Evolve light switch to enable it to act as a repeater? How do I tell if devices depend on others?
