Removing window/motion sensors from slave controller.

I just upgraded to a VeraPlus from a VeraLite. I initially had troubles with my window/motion sensors showing the “can’t detect device” on the VeraPlus. I followed the other posts about waking the devices, then hitting the configure button on the VeraPlus. This worked to get them working on my VeraPlus, but essentially caused the same devices on the VeraLite to start showing “can’t detect device”.

I’ve tried to hit delete and also unpair, but nothing is getting the device to disappear from the list. I can live with the devices showing on both controllers if they worked on both controllers, but if not I’d like to remove them. Any ideas how to do this?

Z-Wave devices that still function on the network will reappear if they are deleted from the Vera GUI because Vera “hears” them on the network and re-adds them to the GUI.

You could try the old delete URL that use to be used as a hammer to delete failed devices. But, I’m not sure that it will work long term.
http://vera_lite_ip_address:3480/data_request?id=device&action=delete&device=666 – set to appropriate device number.

If you simply don’t want to see these devices in the Vera Lite UI5 GUI anymore, I’d suggest hiding them. Here’s one of many posts about how to hide a Z-Wave device.

It sounds like you have your VeraLite either configured as a secondary controller to your VeraPlus, or you configured your VeraPlus by restoring a Z-Wave backup from the VeraLite.

If your VeraLite is configured as a secondary controller, it has an outdated configuration, and you can update the configuration by pairing it with your VeraPlus again (no need to exclude it first).

If you configured your VeraPlus with a Z-Wave backup from the VeraLite, then your two units are both configured to be the Primary Controller of the SAME Z-Wave network. You basically cloned the Z-Wave controller of the VeraLite. You must decide which one will remain the Primary controller, and do a Z-Wave reset on the other (Settings/Z-Wave Settings/Advanced/Reset Z_Wave chip), so that the Z-Wave radios on the units are not longer clones.

I used this process:
http://support.getvera.com/customer/en/portal/articles/1840697-upgrade-from-ui7-on-veralite-or-vera-3

I’ve tried to reset the z_wave chip, and it seems to do nothing to fix the problem. How do you repair the Lite back to the Plus? I initially did a controller shift, but clearly I want to keep the Plus as my primary. I don’t see an option on the Plus to resend the network, short of the controller shift button.

A controller shift make the new controller the Primary controller and the existing unit a slave…

So… You’ve changed/updated the devices on the primary controller, and the secondary (the VeraLite) is out of sync… To re-sync, put the primary controller into inclusion (add) mode (go to add devices/Add devices/Generic Device/next)… then put the secondary controller into inclusion (add) mode… The two Veras should then synchronize…

Just tried multiple times adding generic devices the way you mentioned, but they didn’t respond with anything stating that it went successful. I’ll wait and see what a network heal does overnight, but I’m doubtful because there was notification of success or anything.
