Remote Controls for Vera

This is a two part post…
Part 1
I tried searching the forums for a concise list of remotes that are currently working with vera and UI7. It would be nice to have list of remotes that can be successfully used to trigger scenes, change modes etc . In essence what exactly they can be used for- right tool for the job. A compatibility table?

As an example, I was searching for a simple method to run scenes, trigger manually and change modes so I bought a GE 46531 (or is it 45631?) i have not success with other it than interrupting my PLEG routines and scenes and devices. (yes I could add manually to GE controller but does it defeat the purpose of a vera?

The Second Part

I am looking for a simple user interface for my elderly tech challenged parents and spouse… Press a button, home mode,away mode, night mode, run an arming scene, disarm scene etc…
I was even considering a cheap tablet to access local network for vera web interface. Any easy suggestions?

I use AEON LABS minimotes. They work well as scene controllers.

Just configured one and love it. Although the step-by-step on the forum seem to be old. The great thing is you can just add a scene by name to a buttons on/off mode… Now does anyone have more than one minimote and how does vera see it?

I have 3. Each is seen independently.

I took the perils of wisdom and purchased one…

Took minimal effort… to update f/w on it and pair…

My parents have a way to activate security scene and disarm house… Challenge is to get them to stop pushing buttons…

please use Remotec ZRC-100 multi-function Z-wave remote control, it is working well with Vera, support up to 12 scenes.
