remote control of trane thermostat

I have a trane thermostat and want to get a remote so I can change the temperature from the couch and not just through vera.

Would an 890 pro or avl300 control the thermostat? Any suggestion which would be better?

Thanks.

iPhone.

Android also works

Yup just used my Android Home Buddy a few minutes ago to but the basement zones on unoccupied ;D

Yep… use your phone. I find that I often leave remotes across the room or on the floor. But my iPhone is almost always w/ me, usually in my pocket.

I probably will use my phone also. But I was hoping to be able tie my home theatre scenes together with vera ones.

I have a 880 right now. I just don’t know if the 890 or avl300 is better for doing nonlight z-wave modules (thermostat and drapes are my next planned additions.

Can get a avl300 for $68 or a 890 pro (refurb) for $129. The avl300 isjust so ugle but not sure if it double the cost ugly.

AVL300 is a bit of a PITA to get working. I have 2, and they work, but they were not easy to get up and running.

So how do you control the TRANE thermostat via your phone without VERA?

You don’t unless you have some other Master Controller that can give you access through your phone like the Schlage Bridge.

There is an AutoHTN Beta available for Android phone. It handles on TStat at them moment, all of your lights, switches & Sensors and can control Boxee and a few others. Just google search AutoHTN.
