I understand this may be a bit far-fetched, but I am a big football fan and would love to figure out how to do this. I have what I call a “red zone light” and I want to automate it so that it comes on whenever the Patriots are playing and have the ball inside the opponent’s 20 yard line (it is already configured in my z-wave network). Other than that happening, the light should always be off. Is there any way for me to accomplish this? Let me know. Thanks!
I gotta say, in my short time here that is the most “unique” question I’ve seen. 
Yes there is. Using geofencing and GPS trackers. 1 on the ball and 1 on each of the Patriots. Define a box boundary between both side lines, the 20 yard line and the goal. Whenever the ball’s GPS tracker and one or more patriot trackers report as inside that boundary, compare locations of the balls GPS tracker with that of all Patriots trackers. If one or more of these reports the same location it’s pretty safe to assume your conditions are met and the light can come. There is of course always a slight margin of error as GPS is not 100% accurate.
Note that for this to work, it requires the cooperation of the Patriots and possibly also the league.
If you cannot obtain that there is a cheat. Setup Voice recognition on one of the Vera apps. As soon as it hears you yell a certain phrase (indicating your condition has been met) that can switch the light on. Not fully automatic I concur… 
Get a hue light bulb and check IFTTT for anything that will activate the bulb if your favorite team(s) score a point… Don’t know about the 20 yard line unless you can convince friends to tweet, facebook - whatever and have IFTTT cue off of that… Honestly, give it a look and see.

@tp546 - You imnply that you are already using this light for the purpose of a red zone light. How do you presently detect that it is time to turn on the light? If, as I suspect, you are turning it on when you see red zone entry on TV, then there is not going to be a way to automate this with Vera. Though @CudaNet offers a very good suggestion.
Thanks for the ideas guys. Does anyone know if there is a way to have an “always on” voice control? In other words, have my phone listen for certain keywords (red zone light on/off in this case) even when the display is off? I that something I might be able to do with AutoVoice/AutoVera?
I believe that depends on the phone/android version. My LG G2 listens for it’s catch command even with it’s screen of and being on the charger.
My older company issued Motorola Droid 4 does not. That just got upgraded to a Samsung S4 so we’ll see what that one does.

I am actually planning to upgrade my phone in September so maybe I’ll try to get something compatible. Do you have any instructions you could point me to? Thanks!
Not really instructions. I noticed my LG doing it as the charger is near my HTS and teh phone started talking to me during a movie. Seems one of the characters on screen had spoken the command phrase. 
I;m thinking most current phones like G2/G3, S4/S5 and the likes will do this. You just have to enable Voice Control and set the command phrase. Seems to default to ‘OK Google’.
I like the question and the only reason I stumbled onto this post is because I was searching for the same solution. I like the idea of using voice activated lights for ‘red zone’ but wonder if there is a way to us an RSS feed or similar to automate turning on the lights when in the red zone or when a team scores?
Since it’s the Patriots, I can not answer. :-X
