Want to help test the next release of Automator.app? This release will add basic support for UI5 while maintaining all features for UI4 users. This release has a large number of internal changes and extensive testing is readily needed before making a public release.
Sign up here. All users are welcome. Beta releases will be posted in approximately 1 week if all goes well. All beta releases will work only for a limited time. It is recommended for testing purposes only and not for general use or for those who just wish to have early access to the next release. The first releases may be very buggy due to the significant internal changes.
Nope, it will replace the current version. If you don’t have a spare device or a desire to recreate your Automator.app settings (in particular Favorites), I wouldn’t recommended joining the beta test.
[quote=“trouty00, post:6, topic:170075”]Does the current app in the AppStore not support ui5?
I was about to purchase but maybe I will hold off. Can I join beta to give this a go without purchasing?
Thanks

UI5 compatibility is in the works and is the subject of this beta. At this point beta testing is best handled by those who are familiar with the program. Once all the issues are worked out an app store update will be released.
Most of the issues are rendering issues of the dashboard view, that is the view of the controls that are presented and most often used in the application that mimics the controls (buttons, sliders) etc you see in the web based dashboard.
Most devices are still controllable through the app though some require selecting the “Advanced” view. Thermostats are particualry not working, and siders used to adjust dimmable lights on the dashboard views. Some plugins that have been updated to show text in the dashboard view using the new UI5 mechanism (which is not compatible with the UI4 version) may not show up outside of the advanced view either.
While it won’t be completely useless I think it is safe to assume you won’t particularly enjoy controlling a UI5 box from Automator 1.4.5. I am working as hard as I can to get an update out soon.
Well I went out and bought it anyway as seems like your app does get good attention and many people using it. It does what I need it to right now even though as you agree not enjoyable. Look forward to an update.

I signed up for beta testing, was it to late? I am now register @ testflightapp.com and my device is too. It now says developers will send me a links with the links to available builds…
And I already dislike testflightapp.com, its sooooooooooooooo slow and laggy, almost unusable, hope this doesn’t stay like this…

I’ll post a new beta today. I have to rebuild for each new device registered so I have been waiting a bit as a bunch of new testers recently signed up.
